ORISKA VALLEY SENIORS
2018 PROGRAMS
JANUARY 4—Oneida County District Attorney Scott McNamara will speak on the following topics: How to Prevent Being a Victim of Crime, Recent High Profile Court Cases & Familial DNA Searches.
FEBRUARY 1—Roc Langone will talk about the history of Roc-Star Ice Cream & Eatery in Waterville. He will bring a special ice cream treat for everyone at the meeting.
MARCH 1—Allie Jardin, Associate Program Director, Alzheimer’s Assoc. of Central NY will give a “Chapter Overview” to include signs & symptoms of Alzheimers along with services available to get help for a loved one.
APRIL 5—Greg Eisenhut, Local Government Liaison with Mercy Flight Central, will give a presentation on Mercy Flight Central, Critical Care in the Air. Since 1992, MFC has assisted in saving thousands of lives in over 14,000 patient transports; giving more than 400 patients a second chance at life annually.
MAY 3—Catered ham dinner begins at 12:30 p.m. Program at 1:00 p.m. Michael Mahanna, Independent Horticulturist & Master Gardner, will give a presentation on Blooms of Central N.Y. to include flowering trees & flowers that grow well in our area.
JUNE 7—Bake sale of items brought in by members with proceeds going toward cost of bus trips. Liz Young, a local Fitness Instructor, will talk about the health benefits of exercise in your senior years & some examples of Chair Fitness Exercises for Seniors.
JULY 12—Max Townsend, Curator of Lincoln Davies Museum in Paris Station, will give a history of Lincoln Davies & their museum on Summet Road in Paris Station. It will include an informative account of the people, industry & times in that era.
AUGUST 2—Catered Chicken BBQ by the Beaver Den Restaurant & annual auction of items brought in by members.
SEPTEMBER 6—Bake sale of items brought in by members with proceeds going toward cost of bus trips. Ronald Wagner, Owner of Wagner Farms in Rome, will give general information about the farm, fall crops & planting garlic & shallots and tips for weed control.
OCTOBER 4—Annual raffle drawings of tickets sold by members along with monthly raffle items donated by members & local businesses.
NOVEMBER 1—Covered dish meal of food brought in by members to begin at 12:30 p.m. Bring own table service & beverage. Coffee provided.
DECEMBER 6—Christmas Luncheon in the Lodge at the White Eagle Conference Center in Hamilton. Arrive at 12 Noon and buffet luncheon begins at 12:30 p.m. Reservations & payment required in advance. Bring a gift to be entered in the drawings for gifts.
Meetings are held at the American Legion in Oriskany Falls with the exception of December 6, 2018. All meetings begin at 1:00 p.m. with the exception of catered & covered dish meetings beginning at 12:30 p.m. Programs, bus trips & pictures are posted on the Club Website: www.oriskavalleyseniors.weebly.com.
